Style Lessons. Aice In Wonderland.

"I will tell you a secret. All the best people are crazy!"
Aice In Wonderland

There is agreat secret in all British fairy tales, people always want to make them come true. Sometimes we need to seize an opportunity and fall down a rabbit hole into a Fantasy World! Sometimes we need a little experiment, we want a little passion and magic in our workaday life.
Watch the fashion shapes that fashion designers suggest us this season:

Late For Mangoes

Tried to finish all the work I had as fast as possible so that I could attend MANGO's 10th Anniversary Celebration, just to reach the place and find the event was... over. Sad sad sad.

Old Blossom Box shirt, DR for Bloop Endorse faux leather shorts, unbranded latex leggings, My Bagstage studded bag, Hot Topic studded boots

So there you go...no pictures of the event, no story to tell. Ha! I did manage to get the goodie bag though hehehe...

Congratulations, MANGO! :)

UP-licious & UP-tastic

A recent interview I did with Licioustastic...thank you sooooo much! :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LiciousTastic has been Diana Rikasari’s UP Shoes customer for the past few months now. UP’s collection and quality is considered bar none with other urban women shoes stores out there in the online world. Curious with the success story behind UP, LicisousTastic interviewed Diana at her home yesterday. Check this out.

1. Fashion blogger to business owner. How did that happen? What’s the story behind UP shoes?
I’m not sure myself! Hahah! I guess it all just happened because I love shoes, and I wanted to share that love with everybody. And I found it difficult to find good, stylish shoes at an affordable price, so I guess I wanted to change all that.

UP itself is a business for togetherness. I want UP to be about “them”, not “me”. So it’s about making other people happy, either the people who buy and pay a fair price for a great pair of shoes, or those who happen to be the ones who benefit from our monthly donations. That’s because for every pair of UP shoes purchased, IDR 5.000 is allocated for charity. We sell, share and care.

2. Asking ‘why shoes’ might be too general, so we’ll be more specific: why wedges?
We’re all about elevating women’s height at comfort, and we find wedges to be just the right choice. We’re currently in the development stage of creating comfortable heels as well, but we’re taking our time to do enough research so that we can be confident about our own product once it’s launched.

3. Tell us about your latest collection.
At UP, we do not classify our shoes based on seasons or collections, but we make sure that we stick to our mantra, “not too high, not too low, nothing over-the-top, just the right dose”. This goes with our philosophy that nothing is really ever ‘in’ or ‘out’, therefore our shoes will always be a perfect companion at any time for many occasions. We want to be the last resort when a woman goes, “what should i wear?” and end up with the same shoes over and over again. we want them to end UP with UP.

4. What fashion items do you recommend wedges to be worn with?
Wedges look cool with cropped trousers. They look super comfy when worn with shorts. Wedges can also look sweet with dresses.

5. Which UP shoes are your personal favorite?
My personal favorite is Stella, and it’s actually the shoes I wear almost everyday. It’s like wearing Birkenstock sandals with heels. Casual yet womanly cool!

6. Which international celebrities do you want to see wearing your UP shoes?
I’d love to see Katy Perry or Zooey Deschanel in UP. I think their personalities fit best with UP.

7. What’s your take on today’s local online fashion scene? Is it true that youngsters would rather buy bootleg branded stuff rather than go for original creations?
True. But I think everything needs time, and I am very much certain that local brands WILL take the lead over international brands in near time. It’s not always about being patriotic, that buying local brands shows your nationalism. That’s not a justification to use as an entrepreneur. I think, we should be able to make people willing to buy local brands, NOT because we’re Indonesian, but because we’re actually THAT good.

8. What are the essential five things a person should have to start a business such as yours?
  • Guts – nothing else more important.
  • A sound plan – never say, “we’ll see how it goes”. You MUST know what you want to do, why and how.
  • Network – get to know & gain access to all the people you need to work with even before you start your business. Network is the BEST investment.
  • Good timing – read the market, know when you should enter it.
  • Faith – failure is not an option. You yourself must be convinced that it’ll work out.

9. Name five fashion items a girl should have.
Black sheer tights, grey jersey, comfortable wedges / heels, crisp blazer, tea dress.

10. If you were a shoe, whose shoe do you want to be and why?
Mom. She’s my diamond.

Stud Mud

Leather and studs. Always my favorite.

Zara leather top, thrifted shirt, Picnic skirt worn inside out, My Bagstage studded bag, Topshop socks, Zara shoes

I forgot to post about this...but did any of you watched Jakarta Love Riot? I watched it last week, and it was actually my first time watching a live musical comedy performance. I can't say I liked it, but maybe that's because it just wasn't my cup of tea, so was the type of jokes they had. The only part I enjoyed was the opening dance, but from then onwards, I felt that the overall acting and dancing lacked emotions. But that's just my opinion! Hehehe...

S & D

Me: "I knooowww what S and D stands foooor! SD is Smart Diana, DS is Dumb Sharjeel!"
Him: "No babe. SD is Stupid Diana, DS is Diana Stupid."

Only I shirt, skirt, necklace, unbranded shoes

Btw, have you guys watched Black Swan? It's a really good movie, I know. But it's really good in a crazy, intense way, I've been having nightmares for the past 2 nights...sigh :(

How To Wear Boot. Boots and Booties Trends.

The most important girl's accessory is her shoes. The most fashionable and trendy shoes are boots. Boots are anything from ankle to knee to over-the-knee. So how we should wear them?

Above the knee Boots
Over the knee boots are a main fashion trend and have been seen stomping on pavement all over the city. When it comes to 2011 fashion trends we’re facing a year of subtlety and tradition. And while many of us will be wearing classical silhouettes and subdued colours we’ll all be in need of making them pop; after all, doesn’t every fashioniser want to stand out from the crowd? For women that ’stand out’ look is just about to get a whole lot easier thanks to the hottest trend for shoes in 2011: thigh high boots.

It looks great with over tights, long socks, jeans or pants.  For a look that's all glam and no trash, stick with leather or suede and pair boots with mini dresses, leggings, skinny pants or shorts.

Cowboy Boots
Cowboy boots refer to a specific style of riding boot. Cowboy boots are prefered by celebrities such as Brittany Spears, Jessica Simpson and others. Cowboy boots are normally made from cowhide leather but are also sometimes made from "exotic" skins such as alligator or snake.

Low heeled Boot
Women who value comfort as well as style will appreciate the emergence of the low heeled riding boot. You can pair with jeans and wear on an everyday basis and still be hot and trendy in long sweater. They are also great for pairing with skirts when you have to do a lot of walking.

Boots with fur collars
These boots give a new meaning to warmth and comfort. From real fur to realistic looking fakes, these fur collars will add style and flare to boot designs in winter and spting.

Bold colors Boots
Bright colours is the Fashion Trend of Spring 2011. Put your blacks, grays, browns and boring monotones boots in the back of your closet and wake up your spirit by adding some excitement to your wardrobe. Boots come in all colors. You will get orange, red, blue, purple and even pink. Some have bold prints to go with the bright colors, and for the not so daring, some are a little simpler.

Boots with buckles
For those who love the funky look, boots with buckles are the best alternative. Whether its night party or a friend get together you look great in these kind of boots.

You always have so many options of boots for different season. So just go for shopping and pick the best matching boot which adds fashion and comfort to your look.

Chocolate Hair

Congratulations on the launch of Dove "Damage Care Expert" shampoo variants! :) Was very lucky to be sent some samples so I can try them out myself...and they also included a set of hair heatstylers...woah! Thank you soooooooo much! :D

Muaya Clothing lace top, various skirts, Mango brooch, Nine West wedges

Regardless of being sent these samples, I personally think that Dove is the best shampoo brand in the category of affordable shampoos...:) And I really appreciate their latest campaign, Look Good by Doing Good, which encourages the spirit of helping each other to be an amazing woman with confidence, inner and outer beauty, and strong personality.

And oh...you guys should try the Ice Chocolate drink at Marché...really really good as they use Lindt chocolate as their main ingredient, not Hershey's like most chocolate drinks would use...:)
