Stress Release..

Initiated by the full-of-ideas girl Tyaz (currently she got a new nickname; TZ hehehe), Dini and I, and of course, Tyaz herself, went to Sunway Lagoon Theme Park on last saturday. We were planning for the water park actually, but Tyaz got her period hehehhe so we decided to just go on the (dry) rides. I think the theme park was way better compared to Genting's...the rides were more fun, thrilling, or maybe the Genting experience was just too awful for me (due to some personal reasons) that it affected my perception towards the Genting themepark itself. Hhm...anyway, back to Sunway, we had much fun there. Mostly I liked the ship that rotated 360 degrees...so we were actually spinning round and round hehehhe....woah that was awesome muahahhaha..then the roller coaster...was....okay...not scary at all...and if you see in the pic below, i was sitting a l o n e ...not only on that particular ride, but on all of the rides...tyaz and dini just wanted to be together, so i'm like...go ahead...hehehhe...i'm not scared of these things anyway...

the above pic was taken by the people there...they sold it for RM15...way expensive, but we thought it was really hillarious that we just wanted to have it, and everyone puts in RM5 so it shouldn't be that expensive ritey? look at Tyaz in the pic...she's like...err...Princess Xena or sumthin hahhahah...the hair...the arms...so heroic kinda like hehhehe...i can't stop giggling staring at this pic...

After all the rides and sweaaatt, we visited the Stone Museum to chill coz it was really sunny that day...i didn't really understand the beauty of the stones they displayed there...was just like stones i see everyday hehhehehe....


Then....errrr....i wanted to try the sling shoooottt!! haaaa...i just loooveee those extreme kinda things...last time i went for bungee jumping in Bali...and this time, i have to try this one! a must! Tyaz and Dini wasn't interested at all though...Dini has phobia of height...while Tyaz was just not interested hehehehe....well, it was kinda costly..RM50 for one try...but what the heck, it's like once in a while, besides, in Bali it's much more expensive. So i triiieeedd, but because there has to be 2 person on the ball, the employee joined me hehehhe...he was nice.


My opinion on the sling shot?? Nootthhiiiiinnnggg...hehehehe....seriously, it feels that you're just jumping soooo high that you're touching the sky...i kept on laughing while i was on top..felt sooo free...hhhmmm..nice nice nice.....i still think that bungee jumping is the scariest....it really needs our guts to jump you know....

well well well, that was the last thing we did there...after that, we changed shirts in the toilet coz of all the sweat...did a bit shopping inside the mall...and headed back...it was a nice day....exhausting, but nice...thank u dini for driving us hehhehehehe.....

Tory Burch Flats

Catching up with my friend in NYC, she asked me if I'd heard of Tory Burch. I said, "Yes, don't they sell clothes?" since I vaguely remember the brand as one of those frequently shown on the OC. She said, "I think so, I guess it hasn't spread to HK yet, but they sell these flats that is currently all the rage in the States and being the poser that I am- I just got some!" Intrigued since she usually doesn't follow the raging trends that closely, I googled it up and found the Tory Burch Reva flats.
At first glance, I didn't really like them. Especially the big metal clasp in the front, which HG very aptly describes as being a wannabe of the Roger Vivier buckle- which I don't particularly like either (although I hear that the taste for Roger Vivier develops over time). But then I tried imagining them in real life and on my feet (a very big stretch of the imagination) and realized that I could see myself wearing it as a cute variation of the classic flats. Because they're really not much different from all the other variations of flats that we all love, think Tods and Ferragamo flats with their metal pom poms and buckles. The Tory Burch ones just happen to have a slightly bigger clasp (the slight ruch at the back makes it even more Tod-like).

So while I don't see what especially makes it special and all the rage (it certainly doesn't seem all that popular with celebs as I could hardly find anyone of interest wearing them online), I do see its charm. After all, we can always use an extra pair of flats to walk around in. And in the spirit of brightening up our wardrobe, might I suggest choosing more colorful and texturized versions of the Tory Burch flats like these? One can only have so many pairs of black flats and besides, I don't see these flats as a style that will last you a lifetime. They're more one of those in the moment things. So have fun with it while it lasts!

Colour Up Your Wardrobe

As an over-cautious young shopper, I buy way too much classic/ black and white clothes. Not that there's anything wrong with having a simple, classic style, it's just that we're only young once and this is THE time to experiment with pretty, colourful clothes. Sometimes it's just fun to liven up our wardrobe a bit. With everything on their final final final sale, why not take the oppurtunity to liven up your wardrobe? (See, this is how I have been justifying my friend's and my shopping purchases in the past two weeks. Makes sense doesn't it?)

After lowering my standards and making myself think 'colour', I ended up buying this super bright top from FCUK. It doesn't look great in the photo, but it flows well with body movement, the V-neck is great and it's length is perfect to go with skinny jeans or short-shorts. Believe me, it definitely looks better in real life than in this photo.

The brand that came up first when I thought about colourful tops was T-Bags. This is mostly because I spend way too much time on shopbop.com, but it's also one of those brands some people look nice in though I know I'll never buy. (The brand name is now also unfortunately associated with that ugly dude from Prison Break in my brain.) Oops, too much rambling about T-Bags. My point is, these two tops aren't really the simple tops I'm into these days, but they do look pretty and machine-washable for clubbing nights or summer days out, don't they?

The other brand that came to mind was Diane von Furstenburg. Unfortunately, almost all of the summer collection has been sold so I can't really find photos to show for, but I'm sure we all remember DvF as the brand to get colourful wrapdresses. They're always great for livening up one's wardrobe while keeping things classy.

OK so I'm not sure you get my point, but my point is, you're young and it's summer so liven up your closet with colourful clothes while everything is on sale!

The Essence of La Mer

The other day I found out that one of my friends worked at La Mer- I got really excited and practically pounced on her with everything I ever wanted to know about beauty products. Like, what are the dress code/make-up codes for various brands? Do you get free samples? How is the quality of the hand cream treatment at La Mer?- I think she got slightly scared by my sudden over enthusiasm :P
But the thing that caught my attention and made my ears perk up and my eyes light up the most was the Essence of La Mer that she mentioned, sold only to their VIP and celebs. Personally I've never heard of this product before, but apparently its already been around for a few years. It is a very concentrated version of their cream and what it does is that it heels wrinkles and scars and minimizes pores within a 3 week treatment. I heard it works really well (anyone tried it?). And at over $2000USD, I should hope it does! And if you want to get onto their VIP and VVIP list to give this product a try, be prepared to dish out around $15000 annually at their counter.

Very intriguing. I'm amazed I didn't know about this until now. Though it kind of sounds like the Estee Lauder night treatment thing they came up with last year....come to think of it, La Mer is owned by Estee Lauder. Perhaps some of the Essence of La Mer secrets got passed along to their parent company and got transformed into this relatively cheaper brown bottle at the EL counter?

SS07 Beauty Trend: Clip The Front Back

Ever since watching the Olsen twins' last movie, New York Minute ages ago, I have started wearing my hair like the way Ashley did in this screenshot occasionally in the summer. (It feels much more like a summer-y hairstyle rather than winter-y doesn't it?) I've always thought of it as an easy, potentially sleek or cute hairstyle. Interestingly, it was the choice of hairstyle on the Versace SS07 runway.

If you have wavy hair or hair that is curled at the ends, then you can make this hairstyle look glamorous.

If you have straight hair (like I do,) then you can make this hairstyle look uber-sleek on you. One thing that I love about this hairstyle is that it seriously accentuates your features, especially your eyes. So if you're wearing this hairstyle for a night out, pile on the mascara and eyeliner, or make sure to highlight your cheekbones!

But I can think of a few types of people who probably shouldn't wear this hairstyle. If you a) have a long face or forehead; b) have lots of pimples on your forehead; c) are over a certain age, then this hairstyle would probably just accentuate those features.

This hairstyle is great for everyday life because it's so easy to do. All you have to do is brush back the front part of your hair and use two pins to pin them in place at the crown of your head. I know this hairstyle is portrayed as a glamorous and sexy hairstyle at Versace show, but I think it's actually nice and practical if you're going to work and just want your hair out of your face. Another reason I like it is that it prevents the hair at the front from getting oily from contact with my face, which inevitably gets oily as the day goes on (-isn't that so annoying?) Plus, it's just a fun alternative to leaving my hair down everyday. Have you been wearing your hair like that too?

Office Fashion: Suits II

So you know how the last suit post was devoted to one button suit jackets? Well, the lack of variety was because I've felt a sort of negative feeling towards multiple button suits, on women anyway.
They just give me the image of being too old and formal, as in above from Brothers and Sisters with the suit the member of the senator's team (sorry I forgot her name) and Sally Field is wearing. They don't look bad on them, but just not what I'd want to look like yet. Maybe its the shoulder pads...
And lets face it, multiple button suits are just not presented very well either. Especially not the suit from Jones NY Collection (right) here. The Theory Rory suit (left) is better, but it still does not look very flattering on the model.
So I was ready to put the axe on multiple button suit jackets. But then, I found these very chic multiple buttoned suit jackets from Zac Posen (left) and Gucci (right). And I had to rethink my theory.
I mean, look how nice Rachel Griffiths and Patricia Wettig looked with their multiple buttoned suit jackets on Brother's and Sisters. After staring at these photos, I think the thing that bugged me most about the usual multiple buttoned suit jackets is the shoulder pads, more sparsely placed buttons and longer length. So if you get it sans shoulder pads and divide it, like Rachel has done here with the belt...
...Or got something shorter and more proportional and fitted like these two here from Laundry by Shelli Segal (left) and Semantiks (right), then it should look just as sexy and chic as the one button suit.
