FW06 Fashion Trend: Leopard Printed Accessories

From the comments of yesterday's post, leopard-printed clothes are obviously not very popular. Personally, I think wearing just a bit of it is fine, such as just showing the sleeves or the bottom layering shirt. Some people also commented that they don't think this trend is going to last long -let's face it, that's why it's called a trend. Obviously if you don't like this trend, don't go for it!

Anyways, today we move onto accessories. This season, it seems like designers just put leopard prints over all their shoes and handbags:

Steve by Steve Madden has leopard prints on three different shoe styles: platform pumps, ballet flats and terrible-looking wedges.

BCBG Max Azria's platform sandals aren't bad, but the flats are just... not so nice.
Prada, one of the leopard prints supporting designers this season, has these platform Mary Janes. Jimmy Choo on the other hand, has leopard printed shoes in its typical pointy shoe style.

Marc Jacobs is another huge leopard print supporter this season. Both of these bags are by Marc Jacobs. I reckon a woman who looks very rich, wore a long black coat and carried the furry bag, she would look very stylish.

The bag on the left is by Prada, and the right clutch is by Roberto Cavalli.

Even Tods, which usually makes rather plain bags, has a simple leopard-printed tote (left). The right handbag is by Jimmy Choo.

I do think the leopard prints should not have been used on the Fendi B-bag, or at least not this way. This B-bag has got way too much going on!

The key to wearing leopard printed accessories is to only have one item at once and wear mono-coloured clothes. For example, a black dress with a leopard-printed platform pumps would look pretty nice. Don't wear printed clothes with your leopard printed accessories!

FW06 Fashion Trend: Leopard Printed Clothes

Leopard prints seems to be the first trend to emerge this fall. Leopard prints has always been a widely debated style issue: tacky and cheap, or stylish and cool? Leopard prints is a seriously hard trend to wear so be very careful. First, as seen on the runway:

Prada showed two slightly different subtle leopard printed coats -one form-fitting, the other slightly like a cocoon shape.

Alessandro Dell'Acqua on the other hand, showed two different sharp-looking leopard printed coats -one with the 60s feel, and the other is a sophisticated long coat.

Apart from coats, whole leopard printed dresses were also seen. The red Louis Vuitton dress is sort of casual and cute. The Roberto Cavalli dress is wild and very hard to pull off, (although the fur jacket and dress combination does looks very luxurious on the model.)

Louis Vuitton showed two other excellent ways to pull off the leopard prints without going overboard: just show bits of it! Learn from the runway, show just the sleeves or wear a scarf.

Kate Moss looks AMAZING in the leopard dress. I really hated the complete leopard look until I saw these photos of Kate. She's wearing a leopard printed dress and shoes, and still looks soo glam and stylish.

Mischa Barton also recently wore leopard dresses, but she wore it in a more casual style. She made the leopard look more youthful by wearing the dresses with solid-coloured clothes, like the cream cropped jacket on top and black turtleneck underneath.

Wear leopard printed clothes only if you are an excellent stylist and you can pull it off stylishly.

Stylish Business Card Holders

Talking to my friend the other day, the topic of where to buy stylish business card holders came up. I've never given this subject much thought as I've never really had much use for it myself, but apparently it is a very useful accessory in business and getting a good one is all part of the looking professional package. Anyway, the first thing that popped up in my mind were the classic leather makers: Vuitton and Goyard.

They made everything else, so I felt sure they had some. And they do. Personally out of these two, I would prefer the Goyard one because comparatively the Goyard one looks younger and fresher. Similarly Coach also makes card cases such as these both printed and in plain leather. Right now, I like the plain white one because it looks just soooo pretty. But alas, practically speaking, the black will probably win out.

As it turns out, Dior also makes card holders. I am loving the logo-ed one on the left. The huge CD on the right is a bit too much. For something simpler and less branded, Prada and Ferragamo has also made some card holders in plain leather, which are simple and chic.

For something really young and stylish, I adore this metallic credit card holder (which I'm sure also makes a great business card holder) from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The similar but leather one from Tod's is also very interesting. One of my colleagues this summer had a pretty simple and elegant card holder made of metal. Her's was from Tiffany's, like these two. The subtle prints gives the simple box something a bit more.
For something more affordable, Urban Outfitters also makes these metal card holders. The stars are a bit too much for my tastes- especially for a business card holder. But I do like the engravings on the one on the right, its very feminine.

Hope this helps you all stay stylishly professional!

Kate Moss' FW06 Ads

Kate Moss's appeal never ceases to amaze me. She is one of the older models, but she's definitely the winner this season. I loved some ads, but wasn't quite impressed with the rest......

Long Champ -Kate continues to be Long Champ's model this season. She looks really pretty in this campaign. This definitely beats the Long Champ SS06 campaign.

David Yurman -Kate looks gorgeous in these images. But then again, David Yurman ads always have amazing, sharp b&w images. Love this ad!

CK Jeans -Kate got famous back in the 90s because of controversial CK ads, and now she's back. She looks very cool of course, but I just think at Kate's age now, she would look cooler and classier if she had a top on, something like a denim jacket.

Belstaff -Belstaff is another brand that continues to use Kate this season. She looks so cool in the leather jacket, esp since she's got such a rock chick image.

Stella McCartney -The nature feel of this ad is so different from the other ads. Two words sum up this ad: effortlessly cool.

Versace -All the models look super glamorous in the Versace campaign. From the Versace ads I've seen so far, Kate seems to be at the centre of most of the images.

Louis Vuitton -Vuitton's campaign is another one of those mulit-models ad. My feelings for this ad is so and so.

Bvlgari fragrance -There's something about this image that bugs me. Maybe it's her hairstyle or makeup, but I'm just not a fan of this ad.

Burberry -The Burberry campaign is my absolute favourite out of Kate's many campaigns this season. I just think she suits Burberry so well -she combines the cool and classic look in one. Out of the Burberry images, I adore this one the most. She looks sooo girly and stylishly cool.

Christian Dior -Dior's campaign is by far, the most unflattering-looking ads of Kate. Seriously, they make her look so old and just weird.

Agent Provocateur -The newest of Kate's campaigns. The founders of Agent Provocateur are Kate's friends, and Kate claims that she only wears lingerie by AP. There's even a video for this campaign on the Agent Provocateur website.

Which of Kate's ads do you love and hate the most?

Labor Day Weekend

Now that it is finally Labor Day weekend, I guess it is time to officially bid SS06 goodbye. . . . and embrace FW07! And well, school is also in the equation, but just think of all the absolutely GORGEOUS things that designers have waiting for us this season. Personally FW is my favourite season fashion wise, because there is so much more pieces and room for beautiful surprises. Here is a little preview:
Funky chunky cardigans and lots of layering from Free People. I just LOVE how they perfectly matched the green checks with the floral checks here.
One of my favourite things about the FW season- gorgeous gorgeous coats! I simply LOVE this one from Zara. Come to think of it, I love their whole FW07 catalog.
More beautiful coats from Ben Sherman and Lux. The white Ben Sherman one reminds me ever so slightly of that amazing white outfit Andy had on in Devil Wears Prada that everyone remembers and the Lux one is just very very pretty.

More bags perfect for school. The Prada one is just the right size and the style is subtle and elegant. This limited edition huge metallic bag from Marc Jacobs is quite the bargain at only $44. And since its plastic coated, it can survive the rain, snow and wear of school days.

And to complete your outfit, of course there are the sexy boots from Dior and Chloe. Hope this (and our new fabulous layout) helps to put you into the FW07 mood.

But while you are at that, don't forget to enjoy the Labor Weekend sales and tell us about your amazing finds so we can be jealous from here across the Atlantic!

New FW06 Layout

Ta-da! We have finally officially moved onto FW06!

For the past two layouts, our friend T helped us out with the technical stuff, like Photoshop and html. But it seems that the two of us are not quite as technically challenged as we'd thought and have actually picked up some skills in the last two (almost) years of blogging. Through many hours of playing around in our spare time (when HG got her wisdom teeth pulled out and BG didn't have to work), we finally came up with this layout using our limited skills and tons of creativity. This is the first time we've created the background all by ourselves using Photoshop, so we are especially proud of it.

This season's layout themes are shapes and minimalism with an eye for details. The silhouettes of the models demonstrate important shapes of this season, and the interior of the models shows the essence of this season's designs and mood. We chose the silhouettes and advertisements from the designer collections that we liked the most this season: Chloe, Balenciaga, Prada, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Gucci. As for colours, this season's will dominantly be black, grey and white, with splashes of red and purple.

Anyways, let us know if the new layout doesn't work on your browser. Hope you like the new layout -hopefully it makes you feel some of this season's fashion mood!

Footwear Fashion 2006. Fall-Winter Tendency.

Interesting footwear tendency comming up this fall-winter. Cardinally new fashion is going to occupy the world. Interesting footwear designs will be causing joy to our eyes.

Modern Footwear. Click for full size Look out for boots with laces, stud eyelets, knee boots, crocodile boots, wearable pirate/highwayman cuffed boots that stop at the knee, boots with fur cuffs, boots with fur up the sides, moccasin slouch boots with ikat and Inca designs, boots with grommets and biker buckles, Shearling and fur topped elegant boots. As for me such boots are very comfortable and womanly.

Modern Footwear. Click for full sizeSuede boots come in in rich brown, leather boots in metallic effect with chocolate, bronze, copper or pewter tones. Skin textures such as pony skin are also relevant. Some kind of cowboy style is very fashion.

Modern Footwear. Click for full sizeAlternative and extremally modern boots. Country style is very comfortable and fashion at the same time. Beside, woman's legs look very delicate in such boots.
